Sen. Begich to address joint chambers

The Soldotna and Kenai chambers of commerce will host U.S. Sen. Mark Begich for a joint chamber luncheon on Thursday, April 21 at noon at the Soldotna Sports Center. RSVP to the Kenai chamber at 283-7989 or the Soldotna chamber at 262-9184.

Building a better dipnet

Lonnie Lambert, owner of Lonnie's Pro-Apollo Custom Aluminum Boats in Ninilchik, recently had a patent approved for a dipnet he designed with an inner ring system to secure the net to the frame. Lambert fabricates a variety of dipnets for use from shore or from boats. According to Lambert, his products are carried at several retailers around the peninsula, including Trustworthy Hardware and Fishing in Soldotna, Fred Meyer, the Kasilof Mercantile, the Ninilchik General Store, Happy Valley, and Ulmer's Hardware and Kachemak Gear Shed in Homer. Peninsula Realtors hold raffle fundraiser

The Kenai Peninsula Association of Realtors is holding its annual Hospice and Habitat for Humanity raffle Fundraiser. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Grand prize is a 2011 Outlander 400 four-wheeler ATV, first prize is a Tikka 300 Winchester magnum rifle, second prize is a framed print of "The Waterfall," by Ed Tussey, and third prize is a basket from Homer Bear Creek Winery. Cad-Re sponsors April for Ares

Cad-Re Feeds is designating April for Ares, a Soldotna-based certified search-and-rescue dog. During the month Cad-Re will allocate portion of sales from several departments to Ares' training fund. Free-will donation containers to support Ares are also available at Cad-Re Feeds and Khaladi Bros. for the month.
