Help with soccer fundraiser

Sohi Girls Soccer Team is have a fundraiser yard sale at Soldotna High School Commons on April 23 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you have any items you would like to donate (donations need to be made by April 20) please contact Maureen Mokracek at 953-2455.

Nikiski rec. center hosts teen night

The Nikiski Community Recreation Center's next Teen Night for 13 -- 18-year-olds is April 22, 7 to 10 p.m., with open gym, basketball, teen center, movies, popcorn and more. For more information please call 776-8800.

Kenai Public Health nurses expand hours

The nurses at the Kenai Public Health Center are offering expanded hours. Early morning, lunchtime and late afternoon appointments are available each week for immunizations, family planning, well child, communicable disease and STD services. Same-day appointments also are available. To schedule an appointment or get more information, call 335-3400.

Weight loss group meets

A natural weight loss group meets Monday nights at 6:30 p.m. at Pinewood Inn, 38545 Pinewood Ave, off Robinson Loop in Sterling. The group is free, but bring $2 each week, $1 goes to Biggest Loser of the week and $1 goes to Biggest Loser of the Month and if you gain, an extra $1 to go toward Biggest Loser of the Month. Soldotna equestrians meet

Soldotna Equestrian Association holds its general meeting April 18 at 6 p.m. at the the Donald E. Gilman River Center, formally know as the Kenai River Center, on Funny River Road. Members and non-members alike are invited. We will discuss the upcoming season -- rodeos, cattle, events, fees, etc.

Kids' book group meets

The Soldotna Public Library Kids' Book Group will be reading "Omnivore's Dilemma: The Secrets Behind What You Eat," (Young Reader's Edition) by Michael Pollan, during April and May. Books may be picked up at the Soldotna Library. The group will read through Chapter 12 (approximately half the book) for their next meeting on April 28, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., at the Soldotna Library. The group is open to any kids in 4th through 8th grade who are interested in reading and discussing books. Kenai Middle School orientation change

Kenai Middle School 6th & 7th grade orientation will be held Thursday, April 14, 11:20 a.m. -- 1:50 p.m. (K-Beach, Kaleidoscope, Soldotna Montessori). Times listed in Monday's Schools section were incorrect.
