ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A Sitka man was hit with $7,500 in hunting fines for shooting a goat the same day he was airborne, Alaska State Troopers said.

Kip Meyle, 49, pleaded no contest Friday in Sitka District Court to taking the goat in November near Sitka, troopers said.

Meyle's hunting privileges were suspended for four years and he was placed on probation for five years. He also was ordered to pay $800 in restitution for the illegally taken goat.
