Jazzmom to be "Exposed" to the Peninsula

Posted: Tuesday, April 15, 2003

The Kenai Peninsula Performing Arts Society specializes in bringing talented Alaskan artists to the local area from a variety of musical stylings. Most recently, classical pianist Timothy Smith performed in concert and coming May 9th, jazz virtuoso Melissa Bledsoe Fischer, known as "Jazzmom," will be performing her unique jazz styling at the Kenai Merit Inn.

Fischer moved to Alaska with her parents when she was 3-months old and earned a masters degree at UAA. She has produced three CDs, her most recent, a solo version of all her original songs called "Jazzmom Exposed."

The Kenai performance is being promoted as a Cabaret setting, according to producer of the event Dick Troeger, board member of the Performing Arts Society. "We'll have hors d'oeuvres catered by The Chase is Over with a no host bar, and there will be dancing for those inclined on the dance floor at the Merit Inn, however tickets are limited to 125 and we expect those to sell out in advance," said Troeger. Tickets are available at River City Books and North Country Fair in Soldotna, and in Kenai at High Speed Gear, Already Read Books, Merit Inn and Alaska Gift and Gallery. Tickets are $25.00 per person.
