Soldotna resident Marc Christopher Grieger died Sunday, March 8, 2009, of liver disease at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. He was 34.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Soldotna. Father Tony Dummer, OMI will officiate. His ashes will be scattered in the Kenai River at a later date.
Mr. Grieger was born Dec. 24, 1974, at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. He was a high school graduate. He moved to Soldotna in 1998 then moved to Phoenix. He returned to Soldotna in 2008. He worked for Hutchings Chevrolet and McDonalds. He was active in the community as a volunteer Little League umpire. Mr. Grieger was interested in auto racing, hunting, fishing, camping and electronics.
"Marc died peacefully in the arms of his father, Mark, a local automotive service manager in Soldotna and Kenai," his family said.
Mr. Grieger was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lou.
He is survived by his father, Mark Grieger, of Soldotna; grandmother, Geraldine Hess of Soldotna; mother, Pamela Grieger, of Phoenix; and sister, Christina McFarland, of Los Angeles.
The family request that no flowers are sent to the service.
