Three area athletes to play at VCSU
Skyview High School seniors Trevor Tompkins and Mike Waer and Soldotna senior Caleb Sizemore have signed to play football at Valley City State University in Valley City, N.D.
Tompkins is a 6-foot, 200-pound linebacker who made the first team all-Northern Lights Conference team this year. He is the son of Steve and Maria Tompkins.
Waer is a 5-9, 170-pound running back. He is the son of Glenn Waer and Susan Dorazo.
Sizemore is a 5-10, 230-pound offensive lineman. This past year, he was all-state and was named the lineman of the year. He is the son of Bob and Susan Sizemore.
Valley City State is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and is a member of the Dakota Athletic Conference 10. The Vikings football program has 24 conference championships and six national playoff berths, most recently in 2001. The Vikings finished 7-3 and were ranked 25th in the last NAIA poll in 2002.
