Relay for Life meeting planned

An American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life Captain’s Meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Illiamna Room of Central Peninsula General Hospital. Creative fundraising will be discussed and a pizza dinner will be provided. If you plan to attend, call Penny at 260-8031.

Sterling community group to meet

There will be a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Chumley’s at Mile 85 of the Sterling Highway hosted by the Sterling Community Coalition. The guest will be Brian Gabriel with the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, who will discuss state-maintained highways in the Sterling area.

Coalition meeting set

The Community Action Coalition Board will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Kenai Public Health Building. Meetings are open to the public. For more information, call Marilynn Jackson at 398-7738.

Food Safety class planned

The Alaska Department of Conservation is offering a four hour food safety training class from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center. The course will cover food safety, personal hygiene, receiving and storage, preparation, cooking, service and sanitation. Classes are free, but preregistration is required. Computer recycling day slated

Households and businesses are invited to recycle their retired computer equipment from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Spenard Builders Supply on Lake Street in Homer. The cost is $10 for households, 30 cents a pound for businesses and the nonprofit rate is free with proof of 501 (C)3 status. Businesses and nonprofits must call for an appointment. Girl Scout leader appreciation set

The Central Peninsula Girl Scouts will host a leader appreciation banquet from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai. It is open to the public.
