After the Bell makes 'Final Quarter Push'

The Boys and Girls Club After the Bell program at Soldotna Middle School is sponsoring the "Final Quarter Push" homework assistance program, from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays until May 16. The program is to help children who are not currnt members of the Boys and Girls Club to receive homework help with a classroom teacher.

Registration forms are availalbe at the Soldotna Middle School office or from either school counselor. There is no fee unless the student needs to stay past 4:15 p.m. For more information, call Rosy Thompson at 398-2923.

Summer ACT exam registration due May 3

The next ACT Assessment will be administered nationwide on June 8. Collegebound high school students must register for the college admission and placement exam by May 3. There is a late fee for registrations postmarked after May 3, and no registration forms will be accepted after May 17.

ACT scores are accepted by almost all U.S. colleges and universities and are used along with high school grade point average and other infomraiton in amissions decisions and to help place students in appropriate level courses.

Students can register online at www.act.org or by getting information from their high school counselors. The Web site also has sample tests and the opportunity to order other test preparation materials.
