Wasteful spending is the problem

Posted: Monday, April 17, 2006

The Mayor and Borough Assembly insist that State Law mandates property be assessed at full market value, justifying inflating your tax assessments, and in some cases by hundreds of thousands of dollars, just in a single year.

This has many residents upset, and rightfully so. Some have even gone as far as saying they’d rather see a 1 percent sales tax increase rather than having such high property taxes. But they aren’t listening to their elected officials. State Law mandates, and justifies your higher assessments.

Keep asking for a sales tax and you’ll have both, higher assessments and additional sales tax to pay. Remember, the State mandates full market value.

The real issue is wasteful spending of our taxpayer money. Additional sales tax will do absolutely nothing to lower your property assessments (State Law).

Now, let’s go purchase the Heritage Place!
