Former Kenai resident Michelle Ann Moorcroft died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Harbor View Hospital in Seattle after a long illness. She was 40.
Per her request, there will be no services.
Ms. Moorcroft was born born May 10, 1963. She grew up in Packwood, Morton, Underwood and Winthrop, Wash., and Kenai. She graduated from White Pass High School, worked in Corvallis, Ore., before going to Yakutat for two years.
She attended culinary school in Portland, Ore., then moved to Kenai in 1992. She worked for Kenai Supply, Northern Small Engine Repair, Brown's Electric and IISCO before becoming too ill to work. She was considered a reliable and competent employee who worked easily with customers and staff. She recently moved from Kenai to Packwood.
"Michelle was a true gift who was taken from us much too soon and will be greatly missed. She had so much to give and not enough time to reach her potential. She loved cooking and was very knowledgeable in that field. She had an inner strength and fought a long hard battle. To know her was to love he," her family said.
Ms. Moorcroft was preceded in death by her uncle William B. "Bill" Sargent in February 2002.
She is survived by her daughter Hailey Strickon; mother and stepdad, Marnett Love-Hamrick and Michael Hamrick; sister, Laura Pabst, brother-in-law Troy Pabst and niece, Lindsey Pabst, all of Kenai; brother, Miles "Skip" Love, wife, May, and their daughters, Donna, Angela and Emily, of Virginia Beach, Va.; father and stepmom, Gerald and Tammy Moorcroft, and nephew, Derek, of Packwood, Wash.; sister and brother-in-law, Mystee and George Vanderpool, and their children, Lance, Emilee, Mary-Kate and Jake, of Randle, Wash.; brother, Cody Moorcroft, and his children, Autumn, Kelsie and Paige, of Glenoma, Wash.; sister, Myndee Montgomery of Montana; aunt, Susan Sargent; cousins, Tracy Carbaugh and her daughters, Kendra and Jackie, of Morton, Dennis Sargent, wife, Maureen, and their children, Sean and Shannon, of Federal Way, Wash., and Sabrina Lambertson, husband, Mike, and their sons, Todd and Robert Carver, of White Bird, Idaho; grandparents, Faye Schmidt in Mount Vernon, Wash., and Marylou Sargent; uncles, Steven and Donald Sargent, of Morton; and aunt, Dawn Moon, husband, Jim, and daughter Carrie Jean all of Chehalis, Wash.
Remembrances may be made in her name to the charity of the donor's choice.
Cremation arrangements were made by American Memorial in Renton, Wash.
