EAST HAMPTON, Conn. (AP)-- A 74-year-old East Hampton man is facing allegations that he sexually assaulted two children in Alaska.

Frank E. Carreiro was taken into custody Monday and faces an extradition hearing May 15.

According to court documents, Carreiro was visiting the Kenai Soldotna area of south central Alaska in December when he had sex with a 10-year-old and attempted sexual contact with a 9-year-old.

Additional details were not available.

Carreiro has a previous sexual assault conviction on his record. He was arrested in December 1986 and charged with risk of injury to a minor and fourth-degree sexual assault, court papers show.

The risk of injury charge was later dropped and Carreiro was convicted on the sexual assault charge. Carreiro received a one-year suspended sentence and two years probation.
