Social Security reps on hand

The Social Security Administration representatives will be available to answer questions from noon to 4 p.m. at Kenai City Hall today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Homer Senior Citizens Center.

Potato presentation planned

The Central Peninsula Master Gardeners will host a potato presentation from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building on Kalifornsky Beach Road. The featured speaker will be Bill Campbell. His topics will be potatoes, the home garden and late blight. It is open to the public.

Sterling roads focus of talk

The Sterling Community Coalition will host a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Chumley’s, Mile 85 of the Sterling Highway. The guest will be Brian Gabriel with the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, who will discuss state-maintained highways in the Sterling area.

Coalition meeting set

The Community Action Coalition board will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Kenai Public Health Building. Meetings are open to the public. For more information, call Marilynn Jackson at 398-7738.

Sterling seniors to host sale

The Sterling Senior Center will host a garage and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Spaces still are available to those with items to sell at $25 for a space inside the center and $15 for a table outside. For more information or to sign up for a table, call 262-2943 or 262-6808.

Sterling Elementary plans fun day

The Sterling Elementary PTA will host its Spring Family Fun Day from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The event will include a portable planetarium, pony rides, a cake walk, recycled art, seed planting, KNWR display, Smokey the Bear, a barbecue and other games and activities. Bring a can of food for the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank to be entered in a drawing for a hanging basket. For more information, call 262-4944.

Bake sale, bazaar scheduled

The Soldotna Senior Citizens Center will host its annual trash and treasure sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Tables are available for rent. The cost is $10. For more information or to reserve a table, call 262-2333.

Safari Club fundraiser set

The Safari Club will hold its 15th annual Midnight Sun Fundraiser and Banquet at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center. Auctions, raffles and door prizes are some of the planned activities. Dinner will be prime rib and stuffed shrimp. Tickets are available at American Trophy Taxidermy, Homestead Jewelers, Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center and the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds will benefit wildlife conservation, humanitarian efforts and help protect hunting heritage.

Storyteller comes with strings attached

The Kenai Community Library will host string storyteller David Titus at 2 p.m. April 22 at the library. Children will receive a free string.

Softballers meeting to plan season

A planning meeting for the 2006 adult softball season for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Kenai Recreation Center. All potential players, coaches and umpires are encouraged to attend. For more information, call 398-0432.
