Sportsmen’s banquet planned
The annual Peninsula Christian Center Sportsmen’s Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the center two blocks from the “Y” behind The Salvation Army store in Soldotna.
The event will feature fishing the amazon, running the Irondog and a Kenai bear report. Speakers will be Jimmy Jack, Larry Lewis and Scott Davis. Several outdoor excursions will be auctioned off including a four man duck hunt. Door prizes will include knives, clothing, outdoor clothing and a taxidermy gift certificate. Food will be served medieval style. Tickets are limited to 85. The cost is $10 each. For more information, call 262-7416.
Women voters to meet
The Kenai Peninsula League of Women Voters will meet at noon Friday at Christ Lutheran Church. The topic will be a report from members who attended the annual meeting of League of Women Voters in Juneau. Participants may bring a brown bag lunch. Coffee will be provided.
The book club will meet at 11 a.m. to discuss “Train Your Mind, Change Your Brain” by Sharon Begley. It is open to the public. For more information, call Lois at 260-3111.
Health fair ready to pump you up
Central Peninsula Hospital will hold a health fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Denali Conference Room, in the lower level of the Mountain Tower. Blood testing, PSA testing for prostate cancer and thyroid screening will be available for a fee. Other basic health screening will be available for free. For more information, call 714-4775.
Community ping pong offered
Beginning April 27 new ping pong tables will be available for public use free of charge from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Redoubt Elementary School in Soldotna. Participants are asked to bring a paddle if they have one, otherwise equipment will be provided. All skill levels are welcome. After April 27 tables will be set up twice a week in May.

Car seat check-ups planned
Safe Kids Kenai Peninsula/Central will hold a car seat safety check-up from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Kenai Fire Department and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27 at Central Emergency Services in Soldotna.
Gun club aims for meeting
The Snowshoe Gun Club will hold a membership meeting at 10 a.m. April 28 in the assembly chambers at the Borough Building in Soldotna. Agenda items will include reports on purchase applications, approval of amended articles of incorporation and election of directors. Cemetery cleanup slated
The Kenai Lions will host a cleanup of the Kenai City Cemetery from 10 a.m. to noon May 12. It is open to the public. An appreciation barbecue for participants will be held following the cleanup at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. For more information, call Ryan Mills at 283-3333.
