Youth Restoration Corps holds raffle fundraiser

Youth Restoration Corps is conducting a raffle fundraiser to support the YRC 2011 peninsula program on the Chugach National Forest. YRC is raffling a four-person halibut trip from Homer. Tickets are $20. Drawing is May 8, and the winner will be contacted. All proceeds support YRC youth restoring wildlife and fish habitat restorations projects. Nikiski family fun event booth space available

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area is accepting applications from local food vendors, school organizations, athletic organizations, local artists, churches and information/educational groups to reserve booth space at the Family Fun in the Midnight Sun Event, June 18, at the NPRSA facilities in Nikiski. Builders host Iron Dog presentation

The Kenai Peninsula Builders Association holds its April membership meeting on April 21, 6:30 p.m., at Mykel's Restaurant, in Soldotna. This month's speakers will be longtime KPBA member Scott Davis, along with his son and 2011 Iron Dog racing partner, Cory. In addition to being owner of Davis Block and Concrete, Scott shares the record for having achieved the most Iron Dog victories, winning the 2,000-mile race seven times. Spaghetti feed to benefit breast cancer patient

The Kenai Lions Club will host a spaghetti feed fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenai Elks Lodge to benefit Angie Ring Norvelle, a single mother of two and longtime Kenai resident who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The event will include raffles and a silent auction. Any donation will be accepted.

Names of military personnel sought

Local veterans' organizations are collecting the neames and addresses of military personnel who might like to receive a miniature, folded American flag as "little piece of home." If you have a friend or loved one who is deployed, contact Herb Stettler at 262-1237 or 394-1367.

More time to sign up for soccer

The Boys & Girls Club 6th-12th grade Outdoor Soccer program deadline has been extended. The season runs from June 6 -- July 23. Cost is $70 and the registration deadline is Friday, April 22, 4 p.m. All participants must be 2011 members. Membership is $75. Scholarships are available. The Kenai Eagles #3525 Aerie and Auxiliary holds its annual Easter Party on April 23, from noon to 2 p.m. There will be prizes, cake walks, egg hunts and hotdogs and juice while they last.

KPC author gives reading

Kenai Peninsula College staff member and adjunct instructor Dave Atcheson will give a reading and slideshow April 21 at 6 :30 p.m. in the KPC commons. Atcheson wrote "Hidden Alaska: Bristol Bay and Beyond," which was recently published by National Geographic Books. The slide show will feature photos from the book, taken by National Geographic photographer Michael Melford, interspersed with both recent and historical photos of those interviewed for the project.

Safari Club fundraiser scheduled
