Hospital seeking historical photos

Central Peninsula General Hospital auxiliary is seeking historic pictures of the central Kenai Peninsula for a history wall. The auxiliary will meet from 11 a.m. to noon today in the Iliamna room at the hospital. The public is invited to attend and bring photos. For more information, call 714-4500.

Nikiski chamber to meet

Sharon Roesch with the state of Alaska's Division of Forestry will speak at noon Thursday at the Nikiski Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Ohana's Family Restaurant. For more information, call Judene Van Cleave at 776-5551.

Organization to discuss runaways

Parents for a Safe Community will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Soldotna High School teachers' lounge. The topic will be "Runaways." The Soldotna Police Department will lead the forum, which is sponsored by the SoHi PTSA. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call 262-5095.

Mural unveiling, fund-raiser set

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank will host an unveiling and dedication of a mural painted by artists from Kenai Peninsula College, a biscuit and gravy fund-raiser and a raffle for a queen-size quilt made by the Funny River Quilters, Kenai Fabric Center and Forget Me Not Quilters from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the food bank on College Road in Soldotna. The public is invited.

Dinner, auction fund-raiser planned

The Soldotna Lions Club will host at taco feed and silent auction fund-raiser for Marielena Sanchez at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Elks Lodge. Children's games and raffles also are planned. The cost is $10 per person. Admission for children 12 and under is free. Proceeds will help defray the medical costs for her kidney transplant. Preschool fund-raiser slated

The Kenaitze Cuya Qyut'anen Head Start will hold a garage and bake sale fund-raiser from 9:30 to 5 p.m. April 29 and from 8:30 to 5 p.m. April 30 at the Family House on Willow Street in Kenai. Proceeds will benefit classroom activities. Donations items will be accepted at the Family House beginning Monday.

Track and field meet set

North Peninsula Recreation Service Area is registering kids ages 9 to 14 for the annual Hershey Track and Field Meet. The meet will be held May 20 at the Nikiski High School track. Entry forms are available at the Nikiski pool. The program is free. The deadline to register is Monday. For more information, call Rachel at 776-8800.
