Area chambers set schedules

Canned food drive events planned
A “Pint Size Workshop” cooking class is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturdays through April 29 at Allen and Peterson Cooking and Appliance Center in Kenai. This week’s class will teach students how to make flower pot cupcakes.
Cost of admission to the class is two cans of nonperishable food or a $2 donation to the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank.

Gas Authority to meet
The Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority will meet at 9 a.m. Monday in the JPO Conference Room of the Sunshine Building at 411 W. 4th Ave. in Anchorage.

McDonald’s to host benefit
McDonald’s of Kenai and Mountain View Elementary School will host an “I’m Lovin’ Gabe Day” for Mountain View Elementary School fourth-grader Gabe Boyle on Tuesday at McDonald’s. Gabe has leukemia and is undergoing treatment in Seattle for the next six to nine months.
Ten percent of the day’s total sales will be donated to the Boyle family, and from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mountain View students will be present to serve customers and sell “Support Gabe” items for $1.
SBA to host Loan Fair
The Small Business Development Center will host a community express loan fair at 3 p.m. April 27 in Suite 16 of the Red Diamond Center. The fair will teach participants about applying for unsecured business loans from $5,000 to $50,000.
