Pet photos can be color or black and white and should be no smaller than 3-by-5 inches. They may include people. Limit one photo per household. They can be dropped off at the Kenai office, mailed to the Clarion at P.O. Box 3009, Kenai, 99611, or e-mailed to news@peninsulaclarion.com. Cardiac support group to meet

The Cardiac Patient Support Group will meets from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month in the Redoubt Room, located in the lower level at Central Peninsula Hospital. The group invites male and female patients dealing with heart disease and their family members to participate. La Leche group to meet

The La Leche League of Soldotna and Kenai will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month at the Frontier Community Services Playroom in the Red Diamond Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road. The league is a breastfeeding resource group that offers free monthly meetings, mother-to-mother breastfeeding support, telephone assistance and a lending library. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers are invited to attend. Babies are welcome.

Recipes wanted

The Clarion is seeking recipes to include in its Wednesday Food section. Send recipes to news@peninsulaclarion.com, fax them to 283-3299 or drop them by the office at 150 Trading Bay Drive in Kenai. Name, address, contact number and brief description of how you came up with or came by the recipe is needed. Immunizations available

The Kenai Public Health Center at 630 Barnacle Way, Kenai, provides walk-in immunization services from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Thursdays at the Soldotna Cottonwood Clinic. For more information call 335-3400.

Nonprofits to meet

The Nonprofit Organization executive director group will meet on the first Friday of each month at noon at Charlottes in Kenai. For more information, call Linda Swarner at 262-3111.

Community ping pong continues

Public ping pong is held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Redoubt Elementary School. For more information call 262-7899.

Sterling Head Start now enrolling for fall

Sterling Head Start is a free child development program that serves young children, three to five and their families. Sterling Head Start offers a.m. or p.m. classroom options, consisting of four, 3 1/2 hour classroom days (Monday - Thursday). Head Start has bus service that includes pick up in Soldotna and also serves the children breakfast, lunch, and snack. Sterling Head Start is located on the Sterling Highway at Mile 81.5 next to Cook's Tesoro. Call 260-7446 for more information.

Soap box derby is coming

The 2010 Kenai Rotary Soap Box derby speeds its way to Kenai on May 22. Local youth will compete in downhill, gravity-powered racers that they build themselves with an adult for a chance to win great prizes! Join the Kenai Rotary Club on Spruce Street in Kenai May 22 starting at noon for this year's race. The Kenai Rotary Club is looking for sponsors.
