Sports Brief: Nikiski boys soccer rolls past Houston

Posted: Thursday, April 21, 2011

Stefan Krogseng scored a hat trick, Sam Taylor had a goal and four assists and the Nikiski boys soccer team defeated Houston 11-0 at the Dome in Anchorage on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs received two goals apiece from three players, and first-year goalkeeper Kaden Spurgeon registered a shutout.

Coach Jim Coburn said a group of "swing" players, those who play for both the junior varsity and varsity teams, received significant playing time and contributed.

Nikiski visits Kenai Central at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The Nikiski girls, who were off Tuesday because Houston doesn't have a varsity squad, visit Kenai Central at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
