ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Two people died when their car rolled on the Glenn Highway near Eagle River, Anchorage police said.
The dead were identified as John Hopkin, 20, of Palmer and Kristine O. Malotte, 22.
Hopkin was driving a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra north toward the south Eagle River exit about 3:40 a.m. Sunday. The car drifted right, toward the shoulder and Hopkin apparently overcorrected, police said.
The car rolled multiple times and ended up next to the guardrail on the inside lane.
Police found Malotte 90 feet away, down an embankment. Hopkin was behind the wheel, his seat belt on.
The two were pronounced dead at Anchorage hospitals.
