Social Security to be discussed

AARP Alaska will give a presentation on Social Security reform at 6:30 p.m. today at the Kenai River Center at Mile 1.6 of Funny River Road across from Soldotna Municipal Airport.

An overview of Social Security and discussion of the various options for keeping the system strong will be given. There is no cost. Participants do not have to be an AARP member. For more information, call toll free (866) 227-7447.

SoHi Swing Choir concert set

The Soldotna High School Swing Choir will hold a concert featuring at least one song from each decade of the 20th century at 7 p.m. today in the school's auditorium. Wellness walk planned

The Dena'ina Health Clinic will host a walking for wellness activity from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the waterfront beach on Dunes Road off Cannery Beach Road. There is no cost. Mural unveiling, fund-raiser set

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank will host an unveiling and dedication of a mural painted by artists from Kenai Peninsula College, a biscuit and gravy fund-raiser and a raffle for a queen-size quilt made by the Funny River Quilters, Kenai Fabric Center and Forget Me Not Quilters from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the food bank on College Road in Soldotna. The public is encouraged to attend.

Little League registration extended

The Kenai Little League will hold registration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Safeway store and online at www.eteamz.com/KenaiLittleLeague.

Tryouts are tentatively scheduled for Thursday and May 2 and 3 at the Kenai multipurpose facility. For more information, call Kristy Hughes at 283-5462.

Bike show planned

The Kenai Peninsula ABATE will host its annual spring bike show Saturday and Sunday at the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna. Custom bikes from around the peninsula will be displayed. For more information, call Rick at 262-1532 or Bud at 283-1655.

Dinner, auction fund-raiser planned

The Soldotna Lions Club will host at taco feed and silent auction fund-raiser for Marielena Sanchez at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Elks Lodge. Children's games and raffles also are planned. The cost is $10 per person. Admission for children 12 and under is free. Proceeds will help defray the medical costs for her kidney transplant. Skyview after-graduation committee to meet

The Skyview High School after-graduation committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the commons at the school until graduation. Volunteers are still needed. The topics will be volunteer scheduling, activity planning and party preparations. Parents of seniors are encouraged to attend. United Way meeting set

The Kenai Peninsula United Way board of directors will hold its annual meeting at 7:30 a.m. Thursday in the board room at Homer Electric Association in Kenai. It is open to the public. For more information, call 283-9500.
