The Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus beginning with its annual three-day purification fast to be broken with communion at the 7 a.m. "Sonrise" service on Sunday, April 24. Starting at 10:30 a.m., the Sunday School has planned a morning of special activities, including a play, "He is Risen," performed by the 7th and 8th and high school classes for children ages 3 through high school, and ending with its annual treasure hunt. In addition, all children will receive treats and participate in other festivities with their respective classes. An evening worship service will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will include the AAJC Choir's inspiring cantata, "His Last Days," along with other special music and songs. Classes for anyone interested in the Catholic Church will be held each Wednesday evening at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The classes are held in O'Neill Hall on Redoubt Avenue at 6:30 p.m. each week. Those attending will learn about the teaching of the Church based on the teachings of Jesus Christ to His disciples. Saint Luke Lutheran Church offers several faith strengthening opportunities during the week. The parish's Wednesday 10:30 a.m. fellowship/study is focusing on Numbers. The group attempts to cover one chapter a session and meets at 48095 Andrews Avenue for approximately one hour.
Wednesday evening activities take place at the Parish Hall, 43055 Kenai Spur Highway, and consist of a potluck fellowship, Vespers Service and detailed analysis of basic Christian doctrine, currently focusing on the relevance of ancient Christian doctrine for the 21st Century. The fellowship/potluck begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by Vespers at 6:30 p.m. and study from 7 to 8 p.m. The pastor also offers weekly homilies on the website in written and mp3 formats for those who cannot participate in any of the parish activities in person.
