Soldotna Elementary

Posted: Wednesday, April 23, 2003

Thanks to school secretary, Michelle Gabriel. Today is Secretary's Day and the school is honoring her for her outstanding dedication to students, staff and parents.

The PTA will sponsor "Night of the Arts," on Thursday. The first- through third-graders will present their musical performance, then there will be a display presenting the art the students have been working on with Larry Willard, the artist in residence. The Artists in Schools program is sponsored by the Alaska Council on the Arts and the Soldotna Elementary School PTA.

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5 to 9. The PTA will sponsor the Apple Tree. There are apples on the tree with teachers' names on them. Families are invited to pick an apple off the tree for a gift idea for their teachers.

Congratulations to Fun Buck winners Jessi Lester, Rachel Amos, Tucker Thibideau, Jessi Stenga, Tyler Neeley, Conner Jezorski and Payton Corbett.

There will be a special night of music starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the gym. The choir, directed by Erin Southwick, and the band, directed by Vernell Schneider, will perform.

Congratulations to the school's Future Problem Solvers. Theresa Ramponi won third place in the individual competition at the state level. Theresa, Monica Maryott and Teslin Hughes placed second in the team competition.
