Teachers currently featured in the front foyer include Ms. Cowart and Ms. Knobf.
Ms. Knobf has taught for 28 years, serving the past 12 at Tustumena. She and her husband, Bob, live in Kasilof. They enjoy visiting new places with family and friends.
Ms. Cowart has taught for 18 years, having served 15 years in Anchorage and three years on the Kenai Peninsula. She enjoys gardening, camping, fishing, hiking and running on the beach.
The DARE graduation will be at 7 p.m. Monday in the Soldotna High School Auditorium. Family and friends of sixth-grade students are welcome to attend.
Next week is Sea Week at Tustumena. Teachers have targeted units that focus on marine curriculum and will engage students in several building-wide activities. Each morning students will strive to answer a trivia question on a "sea" topic. Most bulletin boards in the classrooms and hallways will display student artwork that addresses this theme as well. Thanks to those parent volunteers who assisted with the decoration duties for this special week.
Ms. DeVolld is preparing spring music programs scheduled for Tuesday and May 12. Tustumena staff will pay tribute to the many parent volunteers following each program.
On Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., the kindergarten through third-grade classes will present the musical "Bugz," and both bands will perform. Kindergarten through third-grade parents will be honored immediately after the program.
On May 12 at 2 p.m., there will be a talent show for students in grades four through six, and parent volunteers in these grades will be honored after the program.
