Softballers meeting to plan season

A planning meeting for the 2006 adult softball season for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula will be held at 5 p.m. today at the Kenai Recreation Center. All potential players, coaches and umpires are encouraged to attend. For more information, call 398-0432

Library hosts healing discussion

The Kenai Community Library will host a presentation and open discussion on the history of Native healing methods from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday in the library conference room. Certified medical technician Jacqueline Jager will lead the discussion. For more information, call 283-4378.

Fetal Alcohol disorders training set

Frontier Community Services will host a training on fetal alcohol spectrum disorders from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Kenai Peninsula Borough Building in Soldotna. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration FAS specialist Candace Shelton will lead the training, which is free and open to the public.

Boaters to hold membership meet

The Deep Creek Charter Boat Association will hold its general membership meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds in Ninilchik. Speakers will be from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities. The Coast Guard’s 5 Star Inspections for association members will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at D & M RV Park, Charters and Cabins in Ninilchik.

HEA to cut power for maintenance

Two power circuits serving the Soldotna area will be shut off at 5 a.m. Wednesday for approximately 15 minutes. Homer Electric Association will do maintenance work on the circuits at that time.

The power outage will affect the following areas: Sterling Highway from the Kenai River bridge in Soldotna to Fred Meyer; Kobuk Street from the Sterling Highway to Redoubt Avenue; Birch Street from the the Sterling Highway to Redoubt Avenue; Redoubt Avenue from Birch Street to Binkley Street; East Redoubt Avenue and Keystone Drive, including Boundary Avenue; and Funny River Road from Spenard Builder’s Supply to Mile 5.
