Donald and Helen Van Lith

Donald and Helen Van Lith of Kenai celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Feb. 11, 2006. They were married Feb. 11, 1956 in Rochester, Minn.

The couple lived in Minnesota until they volunteered to work in a state park in Sterling after retiring. Don had working in construction and land development for 37 years, after serving in the U.S. Army for two years. Helen had been a rural mail carrier for 20 years.

They liked Alaska so much that they moved to Kenai in 2001.

The celebration was held at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, Fla., near the Van Liths winter home. They attended a Mass and renewal of wedding vows for couples married 50 years or more. Bishop Nevins of the Diocese of Venice officiated.
