Kasilof resident Mr. Roger Allen Martin, 61, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at his home in Kasilof with his family by his side.
Memorial services and potluck will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, April 23, at the J-BAR-B Bar Mile 101.5 of the Sterling Highway. He will be buried in the Venisburg Cemetery in Battleground, Wash., at a later date.
Mr. Martin was born Nov. 13, 1948, in Edmonton, Penn. He received his GED with an automotive mechanics major. He moved to Alaska in May of 1996 living in Kasilof. He retired from Jackson's Sales and services in 2000. Roger enjoyed painting, playing guitar, singing old songs and drinking beer.
"He will be missed by all," his family said.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Dell and Ida May Martin.
He is survived by his partner for life, Denise R. Harrell of Kasilof; daughter, Tina L. McKee of Battleground; sons, Samual A. Martin of Vancouver, Wash., and Wesley V. Marsala of Davis, Calif.; brothers, Jim Martin of Battleground, Mike Martin of Polson, Mt, Dan "Moose" Martin of Vancouver, Wash., and Bill "Doc" Martin of Kenai; sisters, Rose Lupfer of Long Beach, Wash., and Susan Garrett of Soldotna; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made in memory of Roger C/O Denise Harrell, P.O. Box 848 Kasilof, AK 99610.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
