ANCHORAGE (AP) -- An Anchorage man was in critical condition Tuesday from injuries received when he tumbled down a 90-foot embankment on his motorcycle.

Police said Rex Rambo was riding his motorcycle without a helmet when the accident occurred about 1:30 p.m. Monday in South Anchorage.

Rambo, 27, was rounding a street corner when the wheels of his motorcycle apparently hit loose gravel and he lost control, police said. The motorcycle crashed into a guardrail before falling to the bottom of the embankment.

Rambo was taken to Providence Alaska Medical Center with head injuries, a punctured lung and cuts on his arms. He remained in critical condition Tuesday evening, a nursing supervisor said.
