Longtime Nikiski resident Donald C. Fitzpatrick died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at his home in Kenai. He was 43.

A celebration of Mr. Fitzpatrick's life and a memorial barbecue will be begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at Captain Cook State Recreation Area at the end of the Kenai Spur Highway in Nikiski. The family would like to invite everyone to bring a dish.

Mr. Fitzpatrick was born May 2, 1961, in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he was raised. He received his GED and moved to Nikiski in 1974.

"Don loved life, he worked hard and played hard. He enjoyed fishing and the being out in the sea. He also enjoyed hunting, camping and barbecues. Don's favorite quote was, 'My favorite color is pink.' Don was a very caring person and an excellent father. He loved spending time with family and friends. He will be missed by all," his family wrote.

Mr. Fitzpatrick was preceded in death by his daughter, Lillian Fitzpatrick; and brother, Anthony Conklin.

He is survived by his mother, Marlene Williams of Tacoma, Wash.; fiance, Lisa Segura of Kenai; mother and father in-law, William and Esther Segura of Kenai; brothers, Mike McIntyre of Grand Rapids and Darrin, D.J. and Billy McIntyre, all of Tacoma; sister, Cherie Fitzpatrick of Kenai; brother in-law, William Segura and his wife, Lacy, of Kenai; nieces and nephews, Randy and Lacy Fitzpatrick, both of Idaho, and Cody Fitzpatrick and Alicia Longan, both of Kenai; and nieces, Amber, Jackie and Crystal Fitzpatrick, all of Grand Rapids.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Fitzpatrick's memory to the family at Alaska USA, account No. 680292, 10576 Kenai Spur Highway, Kenai, AK 99611.

Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
