North Kenai resident Barbara Jean Williams died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at Providence Medical Center in Anchorage. She was 57.
Memorial services will be Friday at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Port Nikiski. Pastor Harold Lewis will officiate.
Mrs. Williams was born Sept. 7, 1942, at Dunbar, W.Va., where she was raised and educated. She moved to Alaska, living in the Nikiski area from 1976 to 1984. She returned to the Nikiski area in 1995.
Mrs. Williams was a homemaker, wife, mother and a member of the First Baptist Church of Port Nikiski. She loved to read, crochet, play cards with family and friends and to travel.
Her family said, "She was the best mother, wife and grandmother any family could ever ask for. You could not ask for anyone better."
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Diana.
She is survived by Kelly Williams, her husband of almost 37 years; daughters and sons-in-law Cheryl and Tim Stevens of Waller, Texas, and Kellie Jean and Bill Baker of Nikiski; grandchildren Tiffany Marie Baker and Nichelle Renee Baker; brothers Raymond Hissom and David, Michael, Richard and James Harmon; and sisters Wanda Hissom, Judy Carpenter and Sandy Price.
