Sheryl Sotelo, a teacher at Cooper Landing Elementary School, watches at left as students Fran Daly, Joy Bartlett, Mike Williams, Kirstin Forbes and volunteer Lee Post work on the rib bones of an adult brown bear the school is reconstructing.

The bear has helped students learn about topics as diverse as human anatomy and ecology since it was killed by a car last summer. The skeleton will be on display at a new museum in Cooper Landing scheduled to open next month.
