Sears accepting applications, planning events
Sears Elementary School is accepting applications for its new magnet school program, which will be available in the fall. Applications are available at the school office and must be returned to the office by 4 p.m. today.
The school will host a luncheon for its school volunteers Tuesday.
The Sears Elementary carnival will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. May 2 at the school, located on Forest Drive in Kenai. There will be prizes, games, food and fun for participants of all ages.

Bed and breakfast group to meet
The Kenai Peninsula Bed and Breakfast Association will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Diamond M Ranch Bed and Breakfast. The public is welcome to attend. For more information, call 283-9424.
Bike show planned
The 2003 Kenai Peninsula ABATE bike show will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna. The there is a $10 bike entry fee, and bikes must be at the mall by 10 a.m. Saturday. For more information, call Bud at 283-1655 or Craig at 262-1910.
College plans arts celebration
Kenai Peninsula College will present its annual Celebration of the Arts 3 p.m. Sunday at the college. This year's event will feature a reception for the student art show, a release party for Driftwood, the college's new literary arts magazine, the renaming of the art gallery in honor of retiring professor Gary Freeburg and a variety of readings and performances. Volunteers needed for frog survey
The Alaska Natural Heritage Program, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game will conduct amphibian surveys this spring in the Cook Inlet area. SoHi sports meetings planned
There will be a Soldotna High School wrestling meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the school library. An officers meeting will be held prior to the general meeting at 5:30 p.m. Anyone interested in taking an office should plan to attend. The agenda includes the 2003 schedule, fund-raising and travel expenses.
The SoHi Football Booster Club will meet at 6 p.m. May 1 in the library. Agenda items will include dates, fall game schedule, summer camp information and fund-raising. This will be the last meeting until "Meet the Stars."
CIRCAC committees to meet
Cook Inlet Regional Citizens Advisory Council will hold two committee meetings next week. The Environmental Monitoring Committee will meet at 10 a.m. May 1, while the Prevention, Response, Operations and Safety Committee will meet at 10 a.m. May 2. Wastewater installer training planned
Mining and Petroleum Training Service, in conjunction with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, will provide training for certified wastewater installers May 2 in the Kenai-Soldotna area. Cost of the training is $65. A $625 fee for two-year certification is required after passing the test. It may be paid in two yearly installments. Preregistration is recommended. Lifeguard sign-ups continue
The Soldotna High School swimming pool is holding sign-ups for a lifeguard training class. Classes will be held Mondays through Fridays beginning May 5. Participants must be at least 15 years of age. Preregistration is recommended. For more information, call 262-7419.

Hospice training offered
