Breakup toys with prep schedule

Breakup continued to cause problems for high school spring sports on the Kenai Peninsula on Monday.

The Soldotna softball team was supposed to play Homer on Monday in Soldotna, but the game had to be postponed due to rain. Shortly after the postponement, there was no official makeup date.

The Homer girls and boys soccer teams were scheduled to play at Kenai today, but that had to be postponed because the fields at Kenai are still unplayable. The varsity games will be May 9 at Kenai at 4 p.m., while the junior varsity games will be May 3 at Kenai at 3 and 5 p.m.

Nikiski and Skyview also were scheduled to play soccer today, but the fields at Skyview are not playable. The games will take place May 9 at 4 and 6 p.m. at Skyview.

Athletic directors and coaches are optimistic that many fields and tracks on the peninsula are close to being ready. Here is the prep schedule for this week as of Monday:
