Volunteers work to right Steve McIntosh’s Piper Pacer after he flipped it over during a touch-and-go landing Tuesday morning on the west end of the runway at Soldotna Municipal Airport. McIntosh said a crosswind caught him as he made contact with the pavement. “All of a sudden (the wind) just lifted the left wing and pulled it around,” McIntosh said.

McIntosh receives a tearful hug from his wife Patricia after she found him uninjured next to the runway. “It just hurt my pride,” McIntosh said. “God’s watched over me for a long time. Maybe he’s trying to tell me something.”
