Every year the Kenai Elks family hosts Easter events and a holiday luncheon. On April 21, 28 eager children arrived to decorate 360 hard-boiled eggs. They also decorated cupcakes and painted clay pots used as centerpieces.
Then, on Easter, the Sunday's best were brought out, linens were set, centerpieces placed and a decorative buffet presented. Approximately 250 family and friends turned out for the feast.
A guess at the number of jelly beans in a container won prizes for Jaden Bower, 4, daughter of Phillip and April Bower, and Austin Malston, 14, grandson of Ron and Ruth Malston.
The deviled eggs contest had four entries with the prize going to partners Joel Bower, 8, and his grandmother Sylvia Sly.
Thanks to the tasting judges, Sue Carter, Claudia Lemme and Ron Rogers.
The kids had an egg hunt by age groups in search of hard-boiled and plastic eggs with a number inside to collect a cash prize. There was a Hip Hop cake walk (where 130 cakes and pastries were given out) and the Easter Bunny made an appearance for photos. Thank you to all those who made this year's Easter a huge success.
