Potters' Guild holds Mother's Day sale

The Potters' Guild hosts its annual Mothers' Day sale on May 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Kenai Fine Art Center, 816 Cook Ave., Kenai, across from the Oilers' Bingo Hall. A wide selection of pottery will be on sale in the Potters' Studio.

Blood wanted

Blood Bank of Alaska is headed to Kenai and Soldotna from April 25 to 28. Call 907-222-5630 for an appointment and more information.

Help clean the Peninsula

The Kenai Peninsula clean-up is scheduled for the week of May 1-7. Participants can pick up bags for litter at the Kenai and Soldotna chambers of commerce and the Nikiski post office; Alaska Waste will pick up filled bags alongside the road during the clean up week. A free appreciation barbeque will be held in Kenai at the softball green strip near Main Street on May 7 from 11:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Youth hold garge sale fundraiser

The Peninsula Grace youth group garage sale to raise money for a mission trip is May 6 and 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donations can be dropped off at the church at 44175 K Beach Road, Soldotna. Call 262-6442 or Kathy Romain at 252-1252 for more information.

Redistricting info session, teleconference scheduled for May

The Alaska Redistricting Board will hold a hearing May 3 at 4 p.m. to take public testimony on the draft redistricting plan. Maps and information are on the Board's website: http://www.akredistricting.org/. The hearing will be held at the Kenai City Council Chambers, located at 210 Fidalgo St.

The board will also take take public testimony via teleconference on May 6 at 2 p.m. The teleconference will be held at the Kenai Legislative Information Office on Main Street Loop. For more information call 283-2030.

Help the food bank, senior center raise funds

The food bank and senior center will get money from the Feinstein challenge based on how much is donated by the community from March 1 to April 30.

Kids' activities sought

The Clarion is seeking information for its annual Just Kidding section with listings of summer events for youth. Organizations, businesses, individuals or churches planning summer events open to area youth May through August may submit activities.

Information needed: Name or group or organization; age of youth who may attend; time of activity; date of activity and deadline for registration; place activity will be held including address; cost of activity and/or fees; contact name and phone number for people to call; e-mail address (optional); Web address (optional); and a brief description of the activity. The deadline to submit information is April 30.

Child-care assistance meeting scheduled

The Kenaitze Indian Tribe offers assistance for childcare costs for Alaska Natives and American Indians who meet eligibility criteria. A public hearing on the tribe's child care development plan will be May 4 at 12:30 p.m.
