ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The state Department of Natural Resources released a revised oil and gas lease sale schedule Wednesday through the year 2003.
Lease sales were put on hold last year because of uncertainties surrounding the BP-Arco takeover.
''Now that a merger has been approved by the Federal Trade Commission, we are able to press forward, but with some necessary revisions,'' said Natural Resources Commissioner John Shively.
The Beaufort Sea areawide sale, which was scheduled for October of last year, is now planned for October. The North Slope areawide sale originally planned for February also will be held in November. A final decision on whether these two sales will be held will be issued in August.
Starting next year, North Slope and Beaufort Sea sales will be scheduled for October while the Cook Inlet oil and gas lease sales will shift to May.
