Chamber lunch features WRCC speaker

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce lunch will feature Heather Arnett of the Women's Resource and Crisis Center. The lunch is at noon today at Paradisos Restaurant. The public is invited.

Public invited to budget review meeting

The Kenai City Council will hold a work session to review the fiscal year 2000/2001 draft budget at 7 p.m. Thursday in the council chambers at city hall. The public is invited. A copy of the draft budget is available for review at the city clerk's office.

Immunization clinics canceled

The Public Health Center immunization clinics scheduled for today and Thursday in Kenai and Soldotna have been canceled. For more information, call 283-4871.

North Peninsula chamber meets Thursday

The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon Thursday at the Lighthouse Inn in Nikiski. The guest speaker will be Harry Lockwood of the Peninsula Job Center. The public is invited.

Gardeners can hear about orchids on Thursday

Central Peninsula Master Gardeners will hold an "Evening of Orchids" on Thursday at 7 p.m. at River City Books in Soldotna. Jane Bibee, owner of The Orchid Patch in Anchorage, and president of the Alaska Orchid Society will speak. The public is welcome to attend. Admission is free.

Community blood drive set for Nikiski

The Blood Bank of Alaska's Kenai Peninsula Center in conjunction with the American Red Cross will hold a Nikiski Community Blood Drive on Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Nikiski Church of the Nazarene, at Mile 18 of the Kenai Spur Highway.

Soldotna watershed group to meet

Anyone interested in the Soldotna Creek drainage is invited to the Soldotna Creek small watershed group meeting Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Peninsula Internal Medicine Building, 247 N. Fireweed in Soldotna.

The topics will include protecting well water; what is needed to maintain or enhance the presence of salmon in the Soldotna Creek; how to better take care of the water near your property; and how the borough's proposed 50-foot stream buffer will affect you. United Way to hold annual meeting

The Kenai Peninsula United Way will hold its annual meeting at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Homer Electric Association building in Kenai. The meeting is open to the public.
