ANCHORAGE (AP) -- An Anchorage man was shot to death early Friday after pointing a gun at police officers.
Police say the incident began at about 1:30 a.m. when Daniel L. Glover, 23, was driving a sedan on Gambell Street and hit a light post, knocking it down. Glover left the scene on foot.
When police attempted to stop Glover near the intersection of Fireweed Lane and the Seward Highway he allegedly pointed a gun at the officers. He also threatened to commit suicide, pointing the gun at his head and fired the weapon at the ground, police spokesman Ron McGee said.
Officers warned Glover to drop the gun, but he pointed it at police again before an officer shot him in the abdomen, McGee said.
Glover was taken to Alaska Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 3 a.m.
