ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The road to Hatcher Pass has been reopened.
The area was closed after a storm last weekend dumped more than four feet of snow at the pass, causing three avalanches that slid across Hatcher Pass Road. One slider near the Motherlode Lodge buried an 800-foot stretch of road 25 feet deep, said officials with the state Department of Transportation.
No one was hurt in the slides.
The road was reopened Thursday after the DOT cleared it.
Officials said there is a potential for human-triggered avalanches in the area, particularly on wind-loaded slopes.
