Just a reminder that the Soldotna Community Library volunteers will hold their monthly used book sale Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m.

Soldotna United Methodist Church has announced the appointment of their new minister.

Reverend Richard Whetsell and his wife, Karolann will soon be moving from Oklahoma to Soldotna.

Kenai Peninsula College's spring classes are coming to an end. Many classes will finish this week and a few will hold their last sessions Monday and Tuesday of next week.

Grant funding for the the art institute normally held in June was not obtained this year. Therefore the two-week institute for adults and children will not happen due to lack of funding.

Last week I made an error. The correct quilter who donated the quilt to the food bank raffle is Lorraine Rohloff, with Funny River Quilters. My sincere apologies for the error. It is a beautiful quilt Lorraine has made and donated.

I will announce the lucky winner next week.

Wow! I heard that Soldotna Trustworthy Hardware had a successful opening!

Due to fire codes, the fire marshal had to come and hold the number of persons in that building at one time. The crowds were so large Porta Potties were brought in and the parking lot was about as full on Wednesday as it was Tuesday.

Very special birthday greetings to Bill Reeder on Saturday.

And anniversary greetings to Susie and Gary Davis for another year of marriage to brag about this week.

After this last week of snow and rain we should be looking for tulip and daffodils to start popping up.

It feels like we have already had the first day of spring several times.
