I was reading the article about “tuition deals for outsiders” this morning (Clarion, April 14), and had to think to myself; why on earth would our local college be more interested in educating youths from outside of our community and state, than furthering the academic success of our own youths?
As the director and founder of a local nonprofit organization whose mission focuses on furthering the opportunities for youths in our community, as well as the father of three teenagers getting ready to enter the secondary educational system, I think that it would be more prudent for our local college to want to see our own future community members and leaders well educated.
I am not screaming, “Hey, he gets a break so I want one also.” I just think that our own youths should be the focus here.
