Volunteers can help at schools

Posted: Thursday, April 26, 2007

I want to send a heartfelt thank you to the marvelous staff at Kenai Middle School. Last week they hosted a beautiful luncheon for all of the volunteers at their school.

As this school year comes to a close, I can’t help but wonder who will be volunteering at the middle school next year. I spent time teaching the kids about fishing at the duck pond on family fun nights, as well as baiting hooks with the eighth-grade ice fishing trip on Island Lake.

Parent involvement with these kids is extremely necessary here in Kenai. Lately, we may be seeing budget cuts, but when parents step up as volunteers, all of the children’s needs can be met.

Thank you again for the delicious lunch. It’s been three great years for my family at your school, and I will always keep you in my prayers.
