Hospital board to meet

The Central Peninsula Hospital board of directors will meet at 4:30 p.m. today in the Iliamna Room at the hospital. The public is invited. For more information, call Bonnie Nichols at 714-4500.

Strength training for women available

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service Kenai Peninsula District will hold a StrongWoman community site leader training from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna.

The program is designed for women midlife and older and uses lightweight dumbbells and adjustable ankle weights.

Cost of training is $60 for a “tool kit.” Multiple participants are welcome to share a kit. For more information, call 262-5824.

Bear baiting clinic offered

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game will hold a black bear baiting clinic at 6 p.m. Friday at the Soldotna Sports Center during the Kenai Peninsula Sport, Rec and Trade Show.

Hunters may not register a baiting station in Units 6D, and 14A and B, 15, 16A or 20B unless they have successfully completed an approved Fish and Game clinic. Clinics are three hours long and provided free of charge. They are open to the public. For more information, call 262-9368.

Free developmental screenings available

Frontier Community Services will hold free developmental, vision and hearing screenings for children ages birth to 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at its office in the Red Diamond Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road. For more information or to make an appointment, call Renie 714-6647.

Community ping pong offered

Beginning Friday new ping pong tables will be available for public use free of charge from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Redoubt Elementary School in Soldotna. Participants are asked to bring a paddle if they have one, otherwise equipment will be provided. All skill levels are welcome. After Friday, tables will be set up twice a week in May. Water safety instructor classes offered

The Soldotna High School swimming pool will hold water safety instructor class Saturday. Participants must be at least 16 years old. For more information or to register, call 262-7419.

Gun club aims for meeting

The Snowshoe Gun Club will hold a membership meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday in the assembly chambers at the Borough Building in Soldotna.
