Kenai resident Ryan James Hodge, 57, died Friday, April 22, 2011, at Central Peninsula Hospital, in Soldotna.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Hodge was born Dec. 6, 1953, in Phoenix, Ariz. He graduated high school in Arizona after which he served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard. In 1997 he moved to Alaska, where he lived in Anchorage and Girdwood for a short while before making Kenai his final residence. While living in Kenai he attended two years of College at Kenai Peninsula College. Ryan loved hunting; fishing, rebuilding Harley's flying and gold mining.
The family wrote, "Ryan James Hodge was an honest and compassionate man. He saw life as a journey and lived it to the fullest. He accomplished more that two years of schooling at the Kenai Peninsula College. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved being surrounded by nature. He was a loving father to his children who admired and cherished him. He will be missed and is forever in our hearts. We love you."
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Marion Hodge.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia Mae Callahan, of Golden Valley, Ariz.; sisters, Sheryl Lynn Goodchild, of Golden Valley, and Karie Lane Clauss, of Kingman, Ariz.; son, Eric Dustin Hodge, of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Kelly Jean Hodge, of Chandler, Ariz.; and friends Corey Dockter and Libby Atchison, both of Kenai.
