3rd annual Alaska solar tour on tap

The annual Alaska Solar Tour of Central Peninsula renewable energy and green building sites is May 14, starting at 10 a.m. at Gary's Auto Electric, on K-Beach Road. Solar potluck scheduled

Kenai Resilience is holding a potluck dinner on May 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at K-Beach Elementary School following the all-day Solar Tour. Kids help stock lake for salmon celebration

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish, will hold its 12th annual Kenai Peninsula Salmon Celebration on May 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Johnson Lake State Recreation site in Kasilof. Elementary schoolchildren from the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District will help release hatchery-raised rainbow trout fingerlings into Johnson Lake. The event is also open to the public. Learn lessons from homes off the grid

Kenai Resilience and Alaska Center for Appropriate Technology will offer a "Lessons from Off Grid Homes" workshop on May 9 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Soldotna United Methodist Church. Kasilof library holds book fair

The Kasilof Public Library, inside Tustumena Elementary School, will have a Scholastic book fair April 25 to 29, 9:30 a.m. -- 6:30 p.m., and May 2, -- 6, 9:30 a.m. -- noon, and 2 -- 6:30 pm.

Sign up for soccer camp

The Boys and Girls Club is accepting registrations for World Cup Soccer Camp for ages 6 to 12. Camp will run May 31 to June 3 from 9:30 a.m. -- 12:30 p.m., at the Kenai Middle School soccer fields. The cost is $75 and includes a ball and T-shirt if you register by April 29. The cost is $100 if you register between April 30 and May 31. Scout-O-Rama set for Saturday

The Tustumena District of the Great Alaska Council, Boy Scouts of America will be hosting a Scout-O-Rama at Centennial Park on April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Scouts will showcase skills such as fire building, traps and snares, dutch-oven cooking and much, much more.
