PALMER (AP) A Palmer man has been sentenced to 119 years in prison for robbing and killing an elderly woman here.

William T. Horsey III, 53, was sentenced Friday by Superior Court Judge Eric Smith.

The judge set the murder sentence at 99 years, and added 20 years for robbing Jane Sasseen, 65, at her home not far from Horsey's own.

Horsey shot Sasseen three times after going to her home to burglarize it on April 2, 2002. Her body was found buried under clothes and boxes in her walk-in closet.

After killing Sasseen, Horsey used Sasseen's ATM card to withdraw money from her account. Authorities tipped off by a bank manager identified Horsey from surveillance videotapes at automatic teller machines and arrested him.

Horsey stole $4,500 by making daily ATM withdrawals each day for nine days. He admitted using the money to buy drugs. He was arrested on the tenth day. Investigators found Sasseen's ATM card and the murder weapon at his home, and he confessed.

Horsey pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and robbery on Jan. 22.
