Students recognized for academic success

Posted: Tuesday, April 27, 2004

On April 1, Kenai Central High School held its 13th academic awards banquet for 134 students who earned a 3.5 or above GPA during the fall semester. Full-time students at KCHS are eligible for an academic letter if they have two consecutive semesters of 3.5 or above GPAs.

We would like to thank Mr. Jim Dawson, Mountain View Elementary principal and KCHS assistant football coach, for his motivating talk on setting goals for yourself.

We appreciate Dena Cunningham and McDonald's of Kenai for financial support and for generously supplying coupons for each of the students.

We would like to thank the many people involved in the program to make it a success: Dennis Dunn, Alan Fields, Mark Manuel, Connie Jung, Kathy Herring, Jim Davis, Tim Delaney, Susie Franklin, Rich Bartolowits, Debbie Sounart, KCHS Jazz Band, National Honor Society and the technical crew at KCHS. Also, many thanks to Gwen Johnson for accepting the parent chairperson position for the coming years.

Thank you to the awesome students at KCHS who strive for the very best and make it a great place to work and volunteer. I will truly miss you all!
