Grace Lutheran School

The fourth- through eighth-graders took a field trip to ConocoPhillips and Galary 25 April 20. They learned how liquid natural gas boils at minus 258 degrees F, burns cleanly and is shipped from the Kenai Peninsula to Japan. Thanks to Jay McKee for arranging the tour. Thanks to Ron Goeke of Gallery 25 for demonstrating the matting and framing process.

Soldotna home school's battle of the books will be at Grace Lutheran on May 4.

The first-graders have been learning life skills in math such as counting money, measuring length and weight.

The first- through third-graders are learning about European countries through books and videos. The second- and third-graders are working on European physical and political maps.

In Christlight, the students have been concentrating on the appearances that Jesus made to his disciples after resurrection.

Thanks to everyone who saved cans for the school. Students and friends collected more than 600 pounds of aluminum for recycling, enabling the school to capture first place in the small school's division of the Great American Can Round-Up.

The school is accepting applications for the 2005-06 school year. For more information or to make an appointment, call Mr. Leckwee at 283-9551.
