Car seat check-up planned
Safe Kids Kenai Peninsula/Central will hold a car seat safety check-up from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Central Emergency Services in Soldotna.
Playing a Beatles fan
Soldotna High School will present the play “John Lennon and Me,” by Cherie Bennett, at 7 p.m. today and Saturday at SoHi. The touching comedy is about Hollywood-wannabe Star, the ultimate Beatles fan, who’s cystic fibrosis diagnosis lands her in the hospital, where she confronts fate with imagination and learns about herself through the help of her roommate, cheerleader Courtney, who is seemingly Star’s opposite.
Electronics recycling offered
The second annual Electronics Recycling Event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Spenard Builders Supply. Computers, televisions, stereos, VCR and DVD players, cell phones and other obsolete electronics may be recycled. The cost is $15 per carload for households (three monitors per vehicle, televisions extra), and $.35-cents per pound for businesses and nonprofits. Qualifying nonprofits can apply for a $ 30-cent rebate. Businesses and nonprofits must schedule an appointment.

Resiliency-building classes offered
Central Peninsula Counseling Services will hold a free, eight-week series on resiliency-building classes open to the public.
Positive Parenting when Divorced or Divorcing, part one and two, will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and May 8 in the Redoubt Room at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. Wiley Snell will instruct.

Car wash, garage sale fundraiser set
The Kenaitze Indian Tribe Native Youth Olympic team will hold a car wash and garage sale fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 5 and 6 at the Kenai Middle School. Booth space is available to rent.
