YABA Bowling Tournaments (Young American Bowling Alliance)
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the following people for making the YABA (Young American Bowling Alliance) bowling tournaments a success. The state tournament was held in Juneau April 3-6. The Pepsi-Cola tournament was held in Fairbanks April 11-13. Again, thanks:
To the Men's Bowling Association for its generous donation to the YABA kids which paid for all our entry fees, hotel accommodations and a van to transport us to and from the bowling alley;
To Patty Rome for all the time, knowledge and experience she donates, getting us ready to compete in the tournaments and for entering each and every child, making all hotel reservations, travel plans and for chaperoning each and every tournament;
To Kathy Waterbury from the Candy Bouquet for providing the candy for our fund-raiser to help defray the cost of air transportation for us and for volunteering to accompany us as a chaperone;
To the other chaperones that accompanied our group on the tournaments Marty and Victoria Askin, Paula Morrison, and Pat Murray;
To all the people who donated money and bought candy from us to help us raise the money to attend the tournaments;
To the Women's Bowling Association, Unocal Chemical Co., and to Kenai Chrysler for donating a van for us to use. It's nice to know the community is behind us kids and likes to see us becoming responsible young men and ladies.
We have a great group of young bowlers. We are very dedicated in our sport and love to compete against other cities in Alaska. Anyone who would like to know more about our group can contact Patty Rome at 283-9253 or Victoria Askin at 283-3972 to inquire how they can become a member.
Our members start about 4 years old and go through 21 years of age.
Again, thank you to everybody who made the trips a success.
